Cococay is a little island near Nassau, people usually asks us a comparison between Cococay vs Nassau. The fact is that you can’t compare it directly because Cococay is a private island near Nassau and Nassau is the larger populated city in Bahamas and capital of Bahamas. So, what you’d find in Nassau is completely different than Cococay. However, the weather in Cococay is similar than Nassau and the food of course, too.

Snorkeling at Cococay from Monarch of the Sea

January 11, 2011 by

Monarch of the Sea is the ship from RCI that sails to Cococay and Bahamas in 3 nights cruise to Bahamas, 5 nights or 7 nights. At Cococay people find a nice place for relax and enjoy aqua activities. For example, you can enjoy snorkeling at Cococay near the port where Monarch of the Sea stops. In order to enjoy snorkeling at Cococay you should rent a snorkeling vest, you require to wear vest. Snorkeling at Cococay from Monarch of the Sea is one of the attractions you can enjoy at the island.

You should be aware there are many conch shells on the sea floor. One sign is advising guests not to take them. You should respect the sea and everything in it avoiding to take conch shells out of the sea.

Some snorkeling areas are quite crowded but elegant enough and you have there some interesting things to see, some small fish, and water clarity is fairly good. But with alot of people splashing around, sometimes the visibility can be limited. If you have the chance, you can take a underwater camera there, like the Olympus underwater camera which we used to take photos there. If you’ve never snorkeled before, you will probably find it fascinating and want to take some pictures. Olympus underwater digital camera is a great camera that you can bring under the water to take nice pictures like the ones we took for this site, this is one of the best underwater Olympus digital cameras, but there are other models like olympus tough 8000 underwater.

When you get off the tenders, there are basically three beaches to go to. The first one is the biggest and the most crowded with people that came from the cruise. Walk further and you will find the second beach, which is a little smaller and less crowded. Continue down the path and you’ll find the third beach, which is the smallest and least crowded, how many beaches in Cococay? There are 3 public beaches despite the entire island is private. Depending on your own itinerary, there are probably other places you’ll be visiting that have better snorkeling in the area, plus you can use your camera there as well. You don’t need to worry about any Sharks in Coco Cay.
